1. Use multimedia content

Don’t rely on text updates to share stories about your community. Incorporate photos, videos, and links into your status updates to engage your fans. 


Keep in mind that photos are the most engaging type of content to share on Facebook. When you share videos and links, remember to include a status update that explains the content and encourages fans to Like, comment or click through.


2. Turn offline events into online content

Use Facebook to promote events. Share status updates about upcoming events to inform and remind your fans. Create a Facebook Event to provide information about any events that are open to the public. 


During each event, remind attendees to Like you on Facebook to see pictures, stay in the loop with updates and get reminders for upcoming events. After each event, create a Facebook photo album and encourage attendees to “tag” themselves in pictures.


3. Monitor and respond to fan feedback

Engagement and transparency are key elements when it comes to building an engaged audience. Monitor your Facebook page for comments, questions and messages from your fans.

Set aside time at the beginning of each week to plan and schedule your Facebook posts. Once your posts are scheduled, you’ll be free to focus on other tasks.
